Welcome to South Putnam Community School Corporation

South Putnam Community School corporation is located in south-central Putnam County.  The corporation covers an area of 163 square miles and is crossed by Interstate 70 and U.S. Highway 40 to the east and west, and U.S. Highway 231 to the north and south. South Putnam has approximately 1,150 students in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade among three buildings including South Putnam Middle School/ High School, Central Elementary and Fillmore Elementary.  South Putnam is committed to equipping students for professional and personal success by guiding students to excellence according the Indiana State Standards and the five C's: communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and character.

School will be closed on November 19, 2019
South Putnam Community School Corporation will be cancelling school on Tuesday, November 19, 2019. The technical reason for the cancellation is due to staff shortages that prevent a safe and adequate operation of our schools; however, the root cause is inadequate public education funding from state-elected leaders. It is unfortunate that there is a need for Indiana educators to drive to Indianapolis to remind elected leaders of the legislators' recent public education funding failures.
